Four Ways to Remove Tattoos
Nothing can be more bothersome than the decision to remove tattoos. After all, when you got your tattoos, you may have initially thought of keeping them for the rest of your life. For one reason or another though, some symbols on your body can suddenly become bad ideas or horrible reminders of people or events you’d rather now forget. Fortunately for you, modern methods can help you get tattoos removed. Here are four ways to consider.
Dermabrasion
This is not a very pleasant method to remove tattoos. As the term suggests, it involves the use of chemicals on the tattooed area followed by scrubbing. These days a machine can now be used to peel off the design on the skin. This does not mean though that the procedure is any less harsh. Clients may experience some pain and post procedure skin irritation, bleeding and even disfigurement. If designs are too deeply embedded in the lower layers of the skin, this procedure may not entirely be able to get tattoos removed.
Cream Application
Some people are able to remove tattoos through the use of special creams. These contain chemicals that seep into the skin and breakdown tattoo coloring. The body will then naturally flush out the broken pigment. This is an attractive option because it is affordable and can be used in the comfort of one’s own home. Obviously though, it may take more than just one or two containers of cream to get tattoos removed. Moreover, tattoos that are too deep, old and large may not respond well to this method. Product effectiveness will also depend on the kinds of colors used.
Laser Procedure
It’s now possible to remove tattoos through the use of lasers. A low level laser light is directed at the tattooed area where it breaks down pigment for the body to naturally eliminate. Because the kind of laser used is not too strong, there are often no complications or serious side effects. It may however take more than just a handful of sessions to have tattoos removed. Tattoos that are done too well may take months of laser removal sessions to fade. Some designs do not completely disappear. Laser removal is also a bit pricey.
Surgery
This method involves cutting through the skin so tattoos can be lifted out. Depending on your preferred procedure, you may have to undergo freezing of the area first before you can get tattoos removed. Because cuts are made, it is possible for scars or marks to remain on the skin. Like laser removal, surgical removal may have a heavier price tag.
These are the four major ways to remove tattoos. As you can see though, they aren’t all that pleasant. They also cannot guarantee complete freedom from a design you no longer want on your body. This is why it is more important than ever to think a hundred times over a design.
