Mesotherapy for Cellulite- Are Injections the Answer
You may want to try mesotherapy for cellulite. Like every other option though, it does have some pros and cons. If you are considering this procedure for yourself, you may want to find out first how it deals with cellulite and what sets it apart from other solutions.
What It Is
Like endermology, mesotherapy is a French invention. It was first used in the 1950s by its creator, Dr. Michel Pistor. In the beginning, cellulite was not among the top conditions for which this procedure was used. It was originally meant for use on patients with such conditions as rheumatism and vascular disease among others. Again, like endermology, mesotherapy was later discovered to have some potential as a cellulite treatment option.
Procedure
The procedure first involves the mixing of vitamins, minerals, plant extracts and homeopathic solutions. Some practitioners may also opt to mix conventional medicines. There is no set standard for mixtures because a practitioner is supposed to customize specific mixtures to specific patient conditions. The resulting liquid solution is then injected into the mesoderm which is the middle layer of the skin. Once there, the solution is expected to help break down fat and aid in its elimination. Depending on a client’s cellulite condition, several sessions may be needed for best results.
Risks
Mesotherapy for cellulite is considered a minimally invasive procedure. Hence, it is believed to be less risky than liposuction especially if it is used by a licensed medical expert. It does however have some risks. Bruising and soreness may be normal initial reactions that will eventually disappear. There is however, a slight possibility that a patient may suffer from allergic reactions or infections. Experts claim though that serious complications and side effects are rare and are only likely when inexperienced and untrained practitioners attempt to perform the procedure.
Advantages
The procedure is obviously less costly and less risky than other treatment options. This however is not the only main attraction of mesotherapy. Some practitioners prefer to use more natural mixtures. Hence, patients tend to believe that it is a healthier option than other cellulite treatment choices. This is simply because natural ingredients are often viewed by people as more nourishing, safer and less likely to cause side effects than artificial, man-made chemicals.
Disadvantages
The major objection of skeptics is the lack of standards when it comes to making injection mixtures. Critics feel that practitioners are given too much freedom to determine what goes into an injection. This can be a cause of concern because there are no large studies to prove that each of these custom mixtures is safe and effective for people.
Mesotherapy for cellulite does not always give stunning results. In a way it is much like liposuction and endermology in that it cannot always guarantee significant cellulite reduction. In case you do want to try it out though, you have a better chance of seeing good results if you seek the services of a practitioner who has a good track record performing the procedure.
